In a significant advancement towards inclusive governance, the Municipality of Maco has integrated Participatory, Transparency, and Accountability principles of the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) into its local governance today, (August 13, 2024) through the pilot implementation for the LGU-initiated Participatory Situational Analysis (PSA) conducted at Brgy. Langgam.

This critical activity will play a pivotal role in shaping the Barangay’s five-year development plan. By involving residents directly in the planning process, the initiative aims to ensure that the development plan is more responsive to the community’s needs and priorities.

The success of this initiative is attributed to the proactive leadership of Barangay Captain Hon. Cecelia L. Sungcuan and the Municipal Local Government Unit led by Hon. Mayor Arthur Carlos Voltaire R. Rimando. Their commitment to enhancing transparency and community engagement is setting a new standard for local governance in Maco.

Residents of Barangay Langgam are encouraged to participate actively in the analysis process, which will help guide the future development of their community and strengthen the overall effectiveness of the CDD initiative.

This progressive step is set to revolutionize local planning processes and foster a more open and collaborative approach to governance.

DSWD XI through the KALAHI-CIDSS program continues its provision of technical assistance to the local government units in the mission of empowering the communities while providing funding to their identified priority subprojects that will address their societal needs. (DSWD XI/Carlo jack L. Pino)
