The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI held a ceremonial payout for the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program under the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) Cash for Work (CFW) modality, targeting students and fresh graduates from state universities and colleges (SUCs) specifically from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP)-Main Campus in Obrero, Davao City on July 17, 2024.
In her address, DSWD Field Office XI Regional Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong highlighted that the payout was not merely a financial reward but a recognition of the students’ commitment to their education, community, and personal growth.
“Lead by example, remain committed to the principles of service and social responsibility,“ she said, underscoring the broader significance of the program.
The KALAHI-CIDSS KKB program has achieved significant milestones in the past year. The increased involvement of students and fresh graduates in community initiatives has not only addressed local needs but also strengthened community bonds, promoting a spirit of cooperation and solidarity. Central to the program’s success is its Cash-for-Work component, which has provided thousands of beneficiaries with practical skills and work experience.
She shared personal stories of growth and transformation from participants, illustrating the program’s impact on building confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
“The program has been a stepping stone, preparing you for future challenges,” RD Goc-ong noted, emphasizing the enhancement of employability and readiness for future endeavors.
As beneficiaries received their payouts, Atty. Goc-ong encouraged them to reflect on their journey and the significant impact of their hard work.
“Your dedication has made a tangible impact, not only on your lives but also on those around you. You have demonstrated that we can overcome challenges and achieve great things with commitment and effort,” she remarked, inspiring the attendees to continue their positive contributions.
Looking ahead, Goc-ong urged the young beneficiaries to continue embodying the values of diligence, resilience, and community spirit. She encouraged them to leverage the skills and experiences gained through the program as a foundation for future endeavors, whether entering the workforce, pursuing further studies, or exploring new opportunities.
The ceremony highlighted the collaborative efforts of the participants, the DSWD, and the community. Atty. Goc-ong expressed her confidence in the beneficiaries’ future contributions, congratulating them on their achievements and wishing them success in their future pursuits.
