The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) turned over the newly constructed Barangay Health Station in Barangay Tubod, Municipality of Carmen, Davao del Norte, on July 11, 2024 worth PHP1.4M.

The total project cost for the health station was PHP1,441,393.42, with the majority funded by the KALAHI-CIDSS grant amounting to PHP1,191,786.18. Additional financial contributions were provided by the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) with PHP238,357.24 and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) with PHP11,250.00.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Municipal Mayor Leonidas R. Bahague, Vice Mayor Marchell J. Perandos, Sangguniang Bayan Members, and the Barangay Tubod Council led by Hon. Allan P. Calunsag. Community volunteers and the Area Coordinating Team (ACT) of Carmen also attended, reflecting the strong community involvement in this project.

This new Barangay Health Station is expected to significantly improve healthcare services for the residents of Barangay Tubod, addressing the critical need for accessible and quality health facilities. The project exemplifies the collaborative efforts between the DSWD, local government units, and community volunteers, highlighting the effectiveness of community-driven development initiatives.

The turnover of the health station underscores DSWD’s commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure and supporting local communities through sustainable development projects. This initiative not only improves healthcare access but also strengthens the community’s capacity for self-reliance and development.
