The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI recently marked a significant milestone as it joined in celebrating the first founding anniversary of the Davao City Consumers Cooperative on April 3, 2024, at Gumitan, Davao City.

Comprising 10 active Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Associations from the Third District of Davao City, the cooperative has been actively engaged in community participation in procurement. This endeavor has enabled them to supply goods to three DSWD Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs), namely the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY), Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), and Home for Girls and Women (HGW).

This initiative aligns with the goals of the SLP and Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) by linking Community-Based Organizations to institutional markets through the adoption of R.A. 9184 Sec. 53.12 Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation. The aim is to empower livelihood-assisted groups in procurement engagement and generate additional income.

Presently, the cooperative boasts a net income ranging from P35,000.00 to P40,000.00 per month, showcasing its success and sustainability in contributing to the economic empowerment of its members and the community at large.
