KALAHI-CIDSS: 20 YEARS IN PUBLIC SERVICE | In a bid to empower community-driven development, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) conducted a Municipal Orientation for the new cycle of implementation this year of one of its modalities, Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay Community-Driven Development (KKB-CDD), in San Isidro, Davao del Norte on March 11, 2024.

Facilitated by the Area and Municipal Coordinating Team (ACT/MCT) in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Isidro, the activity took place at the Executive Conference Hall with attendees from the Municipal Development Council, Barangay Secretaries, Municipal Department Heads, and representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

The Regional Program Management Team (RPMT), led by Deputy Regional Program Manager (DRPM) Giovani R. Yugo, with Training Specialist IV Johan T. Yhuan, Community Development Officer III Karlo Jose Y. Alfaro, Financial Analyst III Abbie Gayle T. Concepcion, and Social Marketing Officer III Ezri M. Coda Jr., facilitated the orientation.

Meanwhile, the RPMT paid a courtesy visit to the Municipal Administrator, John Bryan S. Jayectin, and to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, Rosemarie J. Galanto to discuss the current and future engagements of KALAHI-CIDSS, highlighting its strategic partnership with the LGU.

The main objectives of the activity were to delve into the principles, concept, objectives, timeline, and the specific process of implementing KALAHI-CIDSS KKB-CDD, aligning with DSWD Memorandum Circular No. 09 series of 2023.

The LGU of San Isidro, a previous recipient of KALAHI-CIDSS, has benefited from various modalities, including the National Community-Driven Development Project (NCDDP), PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn-Indigenous People Community-Driven Development (PAMANA-IPCDD), and KKB-CFW. The municipality, alongside barangay representatives, has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment, supporting and accepting KALAHI-CIDSS throughout its years of implementation.

This launch marks a pivotal moment for the LGU, heralding a new community empowerment and development era through KKB-CDD. As the municipality continues its journey with KALAHI-CIDSS, the collaborative efforts of local stakeholders are set to drive sustainable and inclusive development in the region.
