In demonstrating its commitment to community development, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) inaugurated two infrastructure projects on February 15, 2024. The said projects were a Multi-Purpose Building in Brgy. Tacul and an Elevated Water Tank in Brgy. Malongon, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

Gracing the ceremonial event, held at the Barangay Gym of Tacul Magsaysay, were Hon. Mayor Ronie L. Sarande and Hon. Vice Mayor Arthur D. Davin, alongside barangay officials, the Area Coordinating Team (ACT) led by Magsaysay Area Coordinator Wilzen Tordicillas, and some community volunteers, partners and stakeholders.

Mayor Sarande expressed heartfelt gratitude for the said development brought to their community. He underscored the significance of collaboration and highlighted the vital role of the local government’s contribution to future projects.

Barangay Tacul, with a total population of 3,945, received a grant of PHP 833,717.58, with a counterpart from the barangay local government unit (BLGU) of PHP 15,000.00, bringing the total project cost to PHP 848,717.58.

Meanwhile, Barangay Malongon, with a population of 775, received a grant amounting to PHP 176,134.53, with a counterpart from the BLGU of PHP 1,500.00, PHP 373,865.47 from the municipal government, making the total project cost PHP 551,500.00.

These KALAHI-CIDSS-funded projects showcase the success of collaborative efforts between government agencies and local communities in addressing pressing development needs, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.# (DSWD FO XI/EMCJr)
