The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI ushered in the new year with an inspiring celebration of hope across its five centers and residential care facilities (CRCFs). These include the Home for the Aged and Angels’ Haven in Tagum City, along with the Home for Girls and Women, Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth, and Reception and Study Center for Children in Davao City, where residents joined in marking the arrival of the new year with optimism and joy.

The staff members at each facility orchestrated various activities to embrace the new year including magic shows, dance and song presentations, delectable feasts, and fun-filled games for the residents.

For many of these individuals, life has dealt its share of challenges. Circumstances may have kept them from celebrating the holidays in their customary way, surrounded by loved ones in familiar surroundings. Yet, within the warm embrace of the different CRCFs, they found a temporary haven, a substitute family, and a place where resilience met jubilation.

“These CRCFs are more than just shelters; they are testaments to the human spirit’s ability to find joy and hope even in the face of adversity. It’s a reminder that love, care, and a sense of community can truly make a difference,” DSWD XI Regional Director, Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong, said in her message.

As the new year unfolds, the DSWD XI CRCFs stand as beacons of resilience and hope. They are a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit and the transformative impact of love and community. In the heart of each resident, amidst the echoes of laughter and shared joy, lies a renewed sense of optimism, a promise of new beginnings, and a deep appreciation for the temporary home that became their sanctuary during life’s unexpected turns. #
