Davao City, November 23, 2023 – In celebration of the National Children’s Month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Community-Based Services Section (CBSS), hosted a mental health awareness seminar for student leaders of the Sta. Ana National High School on November 13, 2023.

The seminar was a guiding light for these young minds, aiding them in comprehending their emotions more deeply. Ezri M. Coda Jr., the resource person who is a mental health advocate from DSWD FO XI, highlighted the significance of nurturing mental health as attentively as physical well-being.

He stressed that navigating emotions can often be perplexing, leading to stress. He also empowered them with the skill to identify their feelings and encouraged open communication with family or friends during moments of distress.

DSWD FO XI Strategic Helpdesks for Information, Education, Livelihood, and Other Developmental Services (SHIELD) Focal Person, Dan Niel O Salvador, stressed in his message during the program that the agency ensures that all rights of the children in the region are protected, including their mental health rights.

The objective was to equip these student leaders with effective emotional coping mechanisms and foster an environment where mental health is acknowledged and supported. ###
