DSWD XI commences rice subsidy payout to retailers in Davao Region

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), led the kick-off and simultaneous distribution of a one-time cash grant amounting to P15,000 to identified small and micro rice retailers in Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental on September 9, 2023.

A total of 182 small retailers, identified by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XI, were recipients of the SLP emergency rice subsidy (SLP-ERS). For the Department, Promotive Services Division Chief Elizabeth T. Degorio spearheaded the conduct of the said activity.

The SLP-ERS is an inter-agency effort between DSWD, DTI and the Department of Agriculture (DA) acting under the directive of the Office of the President.

This support is aimed at aiding small and micro rice retailers who have been significantly affected by the nationwide implementation of Executive Order No. 39, which sets price ceilings on regular and well-milled rice.

The DSWD is entrusted with the task of disbursing and overseeing the grants, while the DTI and DA are responsible for identifying eligible beneficiaries.


DSWD-funded livelihood associations thrive at Negosyanteng Dabawenyo Trade Fair 2023

[DAVAO CITY] – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI participated in the Negosyanteng Dabawenyo Trade Fair 2023 held on September 8, 2023 at Gaisano Mall of Davao. This event provided a platform for twenty-nine (29) livelihood associations from the city, which are funded under the Department’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), to exhibit their locally-crafted products.

Initiated by the Local Government of Davao and led by Davao City Vice Mayor Atty. Jay Melchor Quitain, this three-day activity was a partnership between Gaisano Malls, DSWD, and several national government agencies. The overarching mission was to champion local products and encourage the registration of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with business bureaus, thereby granting them access to the benefits of legitimate business operations.

DSWD XI Promotive Services Division Chief Elizabeth T. Degorio graced the event, showing the Department’s steadfast support to the participating SLP associations.


DSWD-SLP XI funds 300k worth of tablea production project in Toril, Davao City

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) recently led the blessing and turnover of seed capital fund to Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Alambre (SAMAL) EO 70 SLP Association on September 26, 2023, at Barangay Alambre, Toril, Davao City.

The said livelihood association, which comprises 22 members, received a livelihood grant worth P300,000.00 for their tablea production project.

SLP Davao City Cluster Coordinator Rosa Ana. C. Gado led the turnover of the grant, together with the representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the City Government of Davao.

This effort is in line with the mandate of the Department in the implementation of the Executive Order No. 70 or the ‘Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Directing Adoption of a National Framework’.

SLP aims to improve the economic well-being of the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and families in communities by mobilizing and empowering the same through the support of the local government units and other government agencies.


DSWD-SLP conducts learning visit in 4  livelihood associations in Davao City

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) recently conducted a simultaneous field learning visit in four (4) SLP Associations in far-flung areas in Calinan and Tugbok districts, Davao City on September 26, 2023. 

These groups are funded under the implementation of Payapa At Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) and the Executive Order No. 70 or ‘Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Directing Adoption of a National Framework.’

Staff from the SLP National Program Management Office and regional representatives all over the country participated in the said visit. Field Project Development Officers from DSWD Field Office XI served as hosts and facilitated the activity. 

This activity aimed to provide an opportunity to conduct knowledge sharing for both SLP program participants and staff. More specifically, to identify the existing issues and concerns as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of both PAMANA and EO 70 programs. 

Moreover, this activity is part of the on-going 5-day activity on Conflict Sensitivity and Peace Promotion (CSPP) Training cum Refresher Orientation on SLP Special Projects, which started on September 25, 2023.

PAMANA is a peace and development convergence program of the national government that mainly aims to address armed conflicts and injustices, improve the community’s access to socio-economic interventions, and empower communities by strengthening their capacities to handle issues of conflict and peace. 

Meanwhile, one of the goals of EO 70 is to provide economic opportunities to identified conflict-vulnerable areas in the country.

SLP is a capability-building program which aims to improve the economic well-being of the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and families in communities by mobilizing and empowering the same through the support of the local government units and other government agencies.
