Davao City, July 15, 2023 – The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) XI reopened the IACAT XI Network – Airport Office at the Davao City International Airport (DIA) on July 14, 2023.

After years of stopping its operations due to the pandemic, the IACAT XI office at the DIA has reopened its doors to the public through a blessing and turnover ceremony followed by a short press conference.

The reopening of the office is a result of a joint endeavor aimed at eliminating trafficking in person (TIP) and diverse types of exploitation, including sexual exploitation, prostitution, pornography/online sexual abuse or exploitation of children (OSAEC), illegal recruitment, and forced labor.

With the reactivation of the IACAT-XI Network office, DSWD Field Office XI as a council member assumes a major role in combatting TIP especially at the airport premises. This office will serve as a vital hub for coordination, information sharing, and implementing strategies to protect vulnerable individuals.

DSWD Field Office XI involvement confirms its dedication and significant contribution to the mission of eradicating TIP and modern-day slavery in the region.

Heads and representatives of national government agencies conveyed messages of support such as Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation, Regional Prosecution Office, Department of Justice, City Government of Davao, and DSWD. ###
