The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, in partnership with DSWD Field Office VII, the Davao del Norte – Women Development Center, and the International Justin Mission – Cebu office, recently conducted a three-day training on trauma-informed care, on May 9-11, 2023, in New Corella, Davao del Norte.

The said training was participated by social workers and houseparents of the Women Development Center and Balay Panaghiusa, case managers from the municipalities of San Isidro, Talaingod, and Kapalong, and supported by DSWD Field Office XI Regional Director, Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong, Davao del Norte Governor, Edwin I. Jubahib, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Department Head, Ms. Rosalinda Rapista.

Trauma-Informed Care is designed to build the capacities of the service providers working with survivors of trauma, whether center or community-based. The training aims to equip the service providers in understanding survivors’ experiences and behaviors and addressing challenging behaviors in a way that supports recovery. Moreover, it will help the center and community-based workers create a supportive environment wherein survivors can heal and thrive. ###
