On August 9, 2022, through the official Facebook Page, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, known as PIDS, shared three studies conducted with a full presentation. The said study was initially presented last February 11, 2021, by PIDS President Aniceto C. Orbeta, Jr., namely: (1) Deepening the Narrative: Qualitative Follow-up Study on the Third Impact Evaluation of Pantawid Pamilya; (2) Longer-term Effects of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program: Evidence from a Randomized Control Trial Cohort Analysis (Third Wave Impact Evaluation); and (3) Reassessing the impact of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program: Results of the Third Wave Impact Evaluation. These three studies were authored by Nina Victoria V. Araos, Kriss Ann M. Melad, and Aniceto C. Orbeta, Jr.

According to the official PIDS post, the first study employed a qualitative methodology to gain deeper insights into the unexpected results from the third wave impact evaluation (IE3) of the program. It focused on the nutrition of the child beneficiaries, maternal health, and the labor market outcomes.

On the other hand, the second study was a follow-through to the cohort analysis conducted way back in 2014. The same objective was looked at assessing the longer-term “lock-in” effects of the 4Ps, particularly on education and health outcomes.

The third study was about the results of the IE3 using the regression discontinuity design that analyzed the impact of 4Ps. Said study consisted of the results of the comparison between beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries when it comes to specific bandwidths of distance from the poverty thresholds that determine program eligibility.

These studies were a few of the many scientific bases to explain the effectiveness and efficiency when comes to the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilya. It could be noted that it had not reached its full potential, but, it made a lot of difference, targeting the main purpose, which was poverty alleviation.
