The Department of Social Welfare and Development, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program, recently held the blessing and turnover of P300,000 worth of general merchandise to Igangon General Merchandise SLP Association in Barangay Igangon, San Isidro, Davao del Norte.

The project is expected to help improve the lives of its 30 members and the community where said merchandise is located. The presence of said livelihood aims to address the demand of basic necessities in their community.

This effort is in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Local Government Units (LGU) of San Isidro and Barangay Igangon. The assigned staff of the Department, together with its partner agencies, commit to continue to provide technical assistance and conduct regular monitoring to ensure its sustainability.

DSWD is one of the lead agencies in the implementation of E.O. 70 – true to its mandate of improving the economic well-being of the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and families in communities by mobilizing and empowering the same through the support of the local government units and other government agencies.
