HARVEST FESTIVAL. Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Sitio Ladian, Barangay Marilog, Davao City show off their produce as they celebrate the harvest festival of vegetables.

Participants recently completed the 12-day Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farmer’s Training Program on Sustainable Agriculture, an outreach project of SM Foundation, Inc. in partnership with HARBEST Agribusiness Corporation, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, and Davao City Government.

KSK seeks to improve livelihood of small scale farmers, enabling them access to better socio-economic opportunities. Earlier, Pantawid families in Monkayo, Compostela Valley and Tagum City have also engaged in the program.

The training course provided inputs on Nursery Preparation, Seed Sowing, Land Preparation, Caring & Nursing of Seedling, Pruning, Trellis Preparation, Fruit Selection and Fruit Thinning, Pest and Disease Control, Irrigation & Drainage, and Postharvest Technology.

Integrated in the course is the orientation on the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) focused on Community Driven Enterprise Development approach which covers Self Awareness, Time Management, Financial Literacy, Product Management, Participatory Livelihood Issue Analysis, and Value Chain Analysis.
