The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI through its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program held the Sustainability Planning Workshop cum Program Closure in preparation for the closure of two modalities this year on May 22-24, 2024 bringing together the Area Coordinating Team, KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Management Team, and Local Government Unit (LGU) representatives.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ skills in sustaining the subprojects despite the program closure of the KALAHI-CIDSS National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP) and the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) modalities. The event focused on the viability of Community-Driven Development (CDD) for improving local planning and implementation of development projects amid the challenges posed by the pandemic and other disasters.

Participants gained a deeper understanding of sustainability planning and developed skills to facilitate such workshops at the community level. They also received technical guidance for program closure, ensuring the program’s gains are maintained and sustainability measures are reinforced.

The event underscores the Department’s steadfast dedication to empowering communities for sustainable development. Fortified skills and reinforced measures pave the path for resilient futures, where communities flourish long after the program closure of the two modalities. (DSWD XI/EMCJr)
