Talaingod, Davao del Norte (May 22, 2024) – The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members of the municipality of Talaingod, Davao del Norte expressed their full support for the full-blown implementation of Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) at BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency Through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) during the regular SB session led by the Vice Mayor Francisco G. Gipulla Jr. on May 22, 2024, at the SB Session Hall. 

“Daghang salamat sa DSWD kay dako gayud matabangan ani nga proyekto dinhi sa among munisipyo ug sa mga katawhan ug kami mupadangat sa among tibuok nga suporta para nini na programa”, Hon. Danilo Deano, member of the SB said. 

Luigi C. Garzon and John Vergil T. Salido, Risk Resiliency Program Focal Persons of the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) in Davao del Norte, presented details of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) offering cash-for-training and work (CFT/W) opportunities to empower the local tribe (Ata Manobo) in the community. 

Garzon also highlighted the projects’ sustainability and monitoring mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of continuous assessment and community involvement to ensure long-term success and adaptability to changing conditions.

The DSWD Project LAWA at BINHI combats water scarcity and food insecurity by empowering communities through Small Farm Reservoirs (SFRs), livelihood projects, and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Sessions, enhancing adaptive capacities and addressing challenges. (DSWD XI / RSD)
