In a bid to kick-start the career paths of unemployed graduates and students in the state universities and colleges (SUCs), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) offers its Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) Cash-for-Work (CFW) for SUCs program. The information was disclosed by Harold L. Balandra, Community Development Officer IV, in a radio interview at Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on April 26, 2024.
“Kini usa ka programa para sa mga graduates nga wala pa nakapangita og trabaho. Kini usa ka pamaagi aron aduna silay magamit sa ilang pagpangita og trabaho,” (This program is for the unemployed graduates providing them financial assistance for job hunting), said Balandra.
Under the program, beneficiaries will work for 90 days, to facilitate their transition into the workforce. On the other hand, enrolled students are offered part-time employment only to focus on their classes. They will be deployed to national government agencies (NGAs) and local government units.
Currently, the only partner SUC is the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP). However, there are plans to expand the initiative including Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) and Davao Oriental State University (DORSU).
Participants in the program are compensated according to the Davao Region minimum wage standards. Beneficiaries will receive a wage of PHP443.00 for 8 hours of work per day, while enrolled students will receive PHP221.50 for 4 hours of daily work.
To avail of the program, interested graduates and students may visit their SUCs for the complete list of requirements.
The KALAHI-CIDDS KKB-CFW for SUCs stands as a beacon of hope for unemployed graduates and enrolled students seeking financial assistance and practical work experience. By empowering them to contribute to community development while supporting their academic pursuits, the program embodies a commitment to creating opportunities for a brighter future.
