The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI recently played host to a benchmarking activity and learning visit aimed at sharing insights and best practices of the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program in the Region.
Representatives from DSWD Field Office IX – Zamboanga Peninsula, along with delegates from the DSWD EPAHP Central Office, were warmly welcomed to the Davao Region from April 22 to 24, 2024.
The primary objective of this gathering was to provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on the successful execution of EPAHP initiatives, particularly in forging partnerships between Community-Based Organizations and institutional markets such as the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP). Through the adoption of R.A. 9184 Sec. 53.12 Negotiated Procurement-Community Participation, DSWD XI seeks to enhance the reach and impact of EPAHP, with the ultimate goal of alleviating hunger and poverty in the region. Furthermore, the event aimed to facilitate knowledge sharing and replication of successful strategies in Zamboanga Peninsula.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to witness firsthand the delivery of goods by the Davao City Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Federation to the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) in Davao City. Additionally, they conducted a Focused-Group Discussion (FGD) with members of the Kilalag SLP Corporation in Malita, Davao Occidental, and participated in the distribution of goods to Child Development Centers in Barangay Demoloc, Malita.
Expressing their gratitude, representatives from the visiting team commended Field Office XI for their hospitality and invaluable insights. They underscored the significance of a convergence strategy between different DSWD programs and emphasized the importance of collaboration with Local Government Units to maximize the impact of social welfare initiatives.
DSWD Field Office XI extends its sincere appreciation to the Provincial Government of Davao Occidental and the Local Government of Malita for their gracious accommodation and assistance in facilitating this enriching exchange of knowledge and experiences. Through collaborative efforts and knowledge sharing, DSWD remains committed to empowering communities and fostering sustainable development in the fight against hunger and poverty.
