The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI recently opened a general merchandise project in Megkawayan, Calinan District, Davao City on April 18, 2023 through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The Megkawayan United E.O. 70 SLP Association, a group composed of 20 members, has been granted a capital fund of PHP 300,000.00 to support their livelihood project. In addition to selling general merchandise, the association has rented out their space to other members who wish to showcase their own livelihood enterprises dubbed as “Taboan.”

The launch was attended by various representatives, including those from the program, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, barangay local government unit, Office of Rep. Ungab, and Net 25 Davao.

The SLP is a community-based capacity building program designed to enhance the socio-economic status of its participants.
