In line with its continuous efforts to provide efficient government services, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received the GCash Digital Excellence Award in Digital Public Aid Distribution on December 1. 

The GCash Digital Excellence Awards are given to government units and agencies that paved the way in uplifting the lives of their constituents and clients by pioneering the use of digital financial products to help ensure safe and efficient delivery of their services. 

“Hindi kaila sa ating lahat na ang COVID-19 pandemic ay nagdala ng malaking hamon, partikular na sa paghahatid ng social protection packages para sa ating mga kababayan. Gayunpaman, sa tulong ng ating mga partners tulad ng GCash, patuloy ang paghahatid ng DSWD ng mga programa at serbisyo para sa ating mga kababayang nangangailangan,” Undersecretary for Social Welfare and Development Danilo G. Pamonag said, as he delivered the acceptance speech of Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista for the Awards Night.

DSWD was among the recipients of the GCash Digital Excellence Award from the National Government Agency Sector for its effective cashless disbursement of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in partnership with Financial Service Providers (FSPs).

“I would like to thank GCash for recognizing the Department. May we continue to become partners towards sustaining the impact of the developmental initiatives that we have established,” Undersecretary Pamonag added.

The DSWD tapped GCash and other FSPs to facilitate the faster payouts of the cash aid to millions of low income families under the SAP second tranche. Furthermore, the DSWD signed an agreement with GCash in the implementation of cashless disbursement of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation.

Meanwhile, Director Andrew Ambubuyog of the DSWD-Information and Communication Technology Management Service received the trophy on behalf of the DSWD, and attended the Ceremonial Toast during the virtual Awarding Ceremony. 

“Allow me to convey our gratitude for this award. Hindi naman lingid sa lahat na malaki ang naitulong ng GCash sa pag-distribute ng SAP sa gitna ng pandemiya,” Director Ambubuyog emphasized, when he received the award.

The Department is committed to develop other interventions to effectively and efficiently deliver social protection packages to every Filipino. ###
