The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) participated in the simultaneous launch of the Duterte Legacy: Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery to bring its services closer to the communities across the country.

The nationwide launch on September 30 was spearheaded by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The activity aims to inform the public about the government’s programs, policies, accomplishments, and efforts to bring about real change to the lives of the Filipino people by showcasing real stories from the beneficiaries in their respective localities of the administration’s landmark policies and programs — a legacy and embodiment of our President’s Whole-of Nation Approach.

Furthermore, the caravan intends to bring the basic services of the government to the grassroots level and offers on-ground activities for the participants in all of the 17 regions.

As the lead agency in social protection, the DSWD organized information dissemination activities and provided basic services along with financial assistance, medical assistance, and provision of family food packs.

The other Serbisyo Caravan participating agencies include Social Security System (SSS), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technological Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of Health.

The launching of the caravan is just the beginning, as the Duterte Legacy Caravan will be knocking on the doors of the different cities, municipalities and even barangays nationwide in the coming days to make sure that the Duterte Legacy is experienced by every Filipino. ###
