Davao City – The Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region XI (ARENA XI) opened its Sports Tournament last Friday, September 5 at People’s Park.

Director Gaspar S. Gayona of TESDA delivered the opening message, DepEd led the recitation of the Oath of Sportsmanship and the Oath of Tournament Officials, and ARENA XI President Mariano R. Alquiza led the Ball Toss Ceremony.

XI Press Relations Officer and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Director Priscilla N. Razon said participating agencies will compete in Basketball, Volleyball, Dart, Chess, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton and Bowling which will be played in various sites such DPWH, CENRO East, Smashville Fitness Center and Dover Lanes.

The Sportsfest will run every Friday for the whole month of September with officiating committee from the Department of Education, she said.

Current ARENA XI Officers are DPWH Director Mariano R. Alquiza-President, DTI Director Marizon S. Loreto-Vice President, CSC Director Annabelle B. Rosell-Secretary, SEC Director Javey Paul D. Razon-Press Relations Officer.

Meanwhile, Board of Trustees of ARENA XI are Major General Ariel B. Bernardo of 10^th ID Philippine Army, Director Josephine V. Liamzon of PRC, Director Anthony C. Sales of DOST, Director Fatma M. Idris of BFAR, Director Gary R. Martel of DBM, Director John M. Maruhom of DAR, and Director Antonio B. Arellano of DOJ. DSWD
