The community volunteers from various barangays in San Isidro, Davao del Norte have found a way of presenting their proposed subproject in a fun way – a drama presentation, during the Municipal Development Council meeting for Participatory Resource Allocation (MDC-PRA) held at the Sawata Elementary School Gymnasium in San Isidro, Davao del Norte on May 29, 2025.

The activity, organized under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI’s (DSWD XI) KALAHI-CIDSS program, aimed  to provide a platform for barangays to present their proposed sub-projects creatively, fostering community engagement and participatory governance.

In this MDC-PRA meeting, while the drama presentations added a dynamic and engaging element to the proceedings, the evaluation and prioritization for funding were grounded in the detailed written proposals submitted by each barangay. This approach ensures that funding decisions are based on the feasibility, relevance, and potential impact of the proposed projects, aligning with established best practices in grant funding.

After a thorough evaluation, three barangays were prioritized for funding based on the strength, feasibility, and potential impact of their proposals: Barangay Mamangan, for the construction of an Activity Center; Barangay Dakudao, for the construction of a Community Access Road with a Drainage Line Canal; and Barangay Sto. Niño, for the construction of a Child Development Center.

The MDC-PSA is a key component of the KALAHI-CIDSS program, which employs a Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach to empower communities in the Philippines. It serves as a platform for participatory planning and decision-making at the municipal level, ensuring that community-identified needs are addressed through collaborative efforts between local government units (LGUs) and community members.
