The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI facilitated a series of Sustainability Action Planning sessions from May 6 to 8, 2025, across three barangays—Kilalag, Pangaleon, and Datu Danwata—in Malita, Davao Occidental.

The activity benefited 150 participants of Project LAWA at BINHI under the Risk Resiliency Program – Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM), and was conducted in close collaboration with the Municipal Local Government Unit of Malita, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

Led by Project Development Officer II Jo Ann V. Labio, with the support of PDO II Jezrel Matalandang from the Sustainable Livelihood Program, the sessions aimed to equip community members with practical tools and strategies to sustain the outcomes of their 20-day project engagement. Through workshops and group planning, participants developed localized plans to maintain climate resilience, protect natural resources, and improve community livelihoods.

The initiative reflects DSWD XI’s continuing commitment to empowering climate-vulnerable communities by ensuring that gains from RRP-CCAM interventions lead to long-term, community-owned solutions and sustainable development.
