In a continued effort to boost climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in vulnerable communities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI and partner agencies held a Cash-for-Training (CFT) activity under Project LAWA at BINHI on April 21, 2025, at OCTAFARM in Monkayo, Davao de Oro.

The initiative gathered 300 beneficiaries from various barangays to undergo training sessions focused on climate adaptation, modern farming techniques, disaster preparedness, and sustainable agriculture. These skills aim to empower individuals to better respond to the challenges of a changing climate while promoting food security and economic self-reliance.

The key resource persons included Luigi Garzon, Social Welfare Officer II of DSWD XI; Marc Louie S. Marin of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC); Arvin Jay Amusing, Rovick Jame M. Cadenas, and Neil Harvey Murillo from the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO); Teresa Victoria Fe Doroy and Marites R. Sugano from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO); and Rocris Glenn Idul from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

The CFT modality not only equips participants with vital knowledge and skills but also provides short-term financial support, fostering both immediate and long-term benefits for the communities served. Through this hands-on approach, Project LAWA at BINHI addresses both economic vulnerability and environmental sustainability.

This training reflects the shared commitment of DSWD XI and its partners to equip communities with practical tools and knowledge essential for long-term resilience and inclusive development.
