The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), held a consultative meeting with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) XI to strengthen collaborative efforts in intensifying the implementation of the First 1000 Days (F1KD) program. The activity was conducted on April April 29, 2025, at the NNC Regional Office, Davao City.

Representing DSWD XI–4Ps were Diana O. Mejorada, Family Development Session (FDS) Focal Person, and Anna Felissa G. Lim, Institutional Partnership Development Officer, on behalf of Regional Director Merlinda A. Paragamac. Joining them were NNC XI representatives Retsebeth M. Laquihon, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, and Philina Ritzel L. Acob, Nutrition Officer II.

The discussion focused on integrating F1KD-centered topics into the Family Development Sessions (FDS) for 4Ps beneficiaries and equipping DSWD field implementers with the necessary knowledge and tools. Key agreements highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to raise awareness and build the capacity of DSWD personnel to better deliver nutrition-related interventions at the community level.

Additionally, NNC XI is set to participate in the upcoming Regional Advisory Council (RAC) meeting to align regional initiatives related to F1KD, the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN), and the 4Ps program—particularly through the Tutok Kainan initiative.

The First 1000 Days (F1KD) is a newly launched component of the 4Ps program that focuses on the health and nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women. Introduced in January 2025, it also encourages eligible 4Ps households to update their information to qualify for an additional cash grant that supports maternal and child care during this crucial developmental period.

This initiative aligns with the government’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) agenda by streamlining access to services and benefits. Through simplified processes and clearer information pathways, DSWD XI and NNC XI aim to ensure that vulnerable families receive timely, efficient support—empowering them to make informed decisions that promote their children’s well-being.
