The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Lupon, conducted a joint site validation and assessment on March 19, 2025, for the proposed site of Project LAWA at BINHI, located in Purok 1, New Visayas, Lupon, Davao Oriental.

The site validation is key to ensuring effective resource allocation, minimizing risks and delays during implementation, and promoting community participation and ownership of the project.

The activity involved key stakeholders, including representatives from the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of New Visayas and concerned association presidents.

The successful completion of the site validation brings the communities of Lupon closer to benefiting from essential climate-resilience initiatives, equipping them with skills to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) aims to tackle water scarcity and food insecurity, worsened by climate change and disasters, by providing sustainable solutions to reduce hunger and poverty in vulnerable communities.
