The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Recovery and Resilience Program (RRP) of the Disaster Response Management Division, turnovers Project LAWA at BINHI sites in Barangay Catigan, Toril B-District, Davao City on January 28, 2025.
The turnover ceremony, held at Catigan 1 and Catigan 2 sites, was attended by key representatives from government agencies, barangay councils, and local associations. Among the guests present were Project Development Officer II (PDO II), Jonaire Concepcion, PDO II, Jenejane A. Emuy, Sustainable Livelihood Program-PDO II, Luis Seras, District Head- Toril A, Minda Silvano, and representatives from the Barangay Catigan, Barangay Sibulan, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City Agriculturist’s Office (CAGRO), and City Information Office (CIO).
Representatives from partner agencies and organizations shared their commitment to supporting the continuity and sustainability of the project. A key highlight of the event was the induction of officers per association in Brgy. Catigan, Sibulan, Bato, and Tagluno. The newly inducted officers pledged their dedication to ensuring the success of the project. The ceremony also included the awarding of Certificates of Recognition to outstanding partners and stakeholders who played a crucial role in the project’s implementation. The event concluded with the cutting of the ribbon, symbolizing the official turnover and the beginning of strengthened community-driven initiatives under Project LAWA at BINHI.
Project LAWA at BINHI is a flagship initiative of DSWD XI designed to promote livelihood, agriculture, and environmental conservation, with a strong emphasis on community-based participation. Through this project, the department continues to foster partnerships with local government units and stakeholders to enhance disaster resilience and ensure sustainable development across vulnerable communities.
