The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, in collaboration with partner-stakeholders, turned over Project LAWA at BINHI site and launched Pasol Mo, Luto Ko livelihood program at Mt. Karilongan, Brgy. Carmen, Baguio District, Davao City on January 24, 2025.
Pasol Mo, Luto Ko is a pioneering agritourism initiative designed by the Koontayan Project LAWA at BINHI Association. It invites guests to engage directly with the community by participating in a hands-on fishing activity at the site’s tilapia pond. Visitors are given the opportunity to catch their own tilapia, paying for the fish they catch as part of a unique and interactive activity. This flagship activity combines community-based empowerment with sustainable agritourism, offering an innovative approach to local livelihood while promoting environmental stewardship.
In addition to the turnover and the launch of the agritourism project, an additional livelihood intervention was also handed over to the partner-beneficiary, Koontoyan TO OBU MANUVU EO 70 SLP Association. This initiative further strengthens the community’s capacity for sustainable development and economic growth.
Present during the activity was Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Implementing Project Development Officer (PDO) II, Luis Seras, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (CCAM) Davao City Focal, Jonaire Concepcion, SLP Regional Public and Private Partnership Officer, Sheryl Jane L. Tan, Brgy. Carmen Council, City Agriculturist’s Office, City Fisheries, BFAR 11, PNP, and TATEH Aquafeeds
DSWD XI was also honored during the event, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the EGIP Foundation for its invaluable support to the organization and the community development efforts of Project LAWA at BINHI.
Project LAWA at BINHI is an initiative that aims to enhance local livelihood opportunities through sustainable agricultural and aquacultural practices, alongside community-driven agritourism projects.
