The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI thru Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) DavNor conducted a two-day Gender and Development (GAD) Training of Trainers in Barangay Tagbaobo, Kaputian District, IGaCos, Davao del Norte on May 8-9, 2025.

A total of 40 MOVE members participated in the training, which aimed to strengthen their roles as male advocates of gender equality and champions against violence toward women and children (VAWC) in their communities.

Participants were trained on building foundational knowledge on basic gender awareness, gender sensitivity, legal framework, GAD planning, analysis tools, as well as the importance of mental and physical well-being for sustainable advocacy work.

The participants were further equipped with knowledge of key gender-related laws, including Republic Act No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women, RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, and RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act discussed by 4Ps Provincial Link Shiela M. Dalipe, RSW.

MOVE DavNor Chairperson, Geovannie J. Robilla emphasized the goal of the training, “This training is not only about learning the laws, but also about building the courage and skills of our male members to be role models and defenders of a safe, equal, and respectful community.”

The activity forms part of MOVE’s broader mission to empower male Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries to become community educators promoting gender-fair practices, especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

MOVE Davao del Norte continues to stand as a leading group of male advocates in the fight to end VAWC—fostering a culture of respect, equity, and non-discrimination across the province.
