To boost efforts against climate change, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, held a coordination meeting with local officials and community leaders on May 7, 2025, in Compostela, Davao de Oro.

The activity focused on enhancing the implementation of the Risk Resiliency Program – Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM) and Project LAWA at BINHI in five municipalities. Representatives from Compostela, New Bataan, Mabini, Laak, and Monkayo attended the event, along with DSWD XI staff and leaders of community groups who have been involved in the projects since 2023.

During the session, the DSWD team presented updated program guidelines to ensure all stakeholders are aligned. Participants also reviewed the progress of Project LAWA at BINHI, highlighting achievements, ongoing challenges, and key lessons from the past two years.

A special resource mapping activity allowed communities to identify their strengths and gaps to guide future climate programs.

A major outcome of the event was the development of strategies to help local governments include climate resilience projects in their Annual Investment Plans (AIPs) and advocate for local ordinances that support long-term climate action.

The event concluded with a training on the Quick Program Assessment (QPA) tool, which will help local government units monitor and improve project implementation.
