The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD XI), through Risk Resiliency Program – Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation  (RRP-CCAM) in partnership with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), conducted final site layout inspections and strategic work planning sessions for Project LAWA at BINHI in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur held on April 23, 2025, in Sitio Turan, Barangay Balnate, and on April 24, 2025, in Sitio Kabuhuan, Barangay Upper Bala. These sessions aimed to align project timelines, refine operational strategies, and ensure smooth and structured implementation at the community level.

Project Development Officers from DSWD XI—Karen C. Gayonan, Andrea Mae Batuhan, and Dale Renan I. Libay—led the initiative, with vital support from MSWDO personnel Glenn Marc Remonde and Jevie, who coordinated with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

The effort highlighted the value of collaborative planning and adaptive monitoring in ensuring the success of association-managed projects. Discussions also focused on anticipating operational challenges and enhancing community ownership of the project.

“We want to ensure that these community-led initiatives are not only implemented but are structured for long-term sustainability. Site layout and work planning are not just technical steps—they define how efficiently a project will function and evolve,” said Gayonan of DSWD XI.

These groundwork activities reflect DSWD’s larger commitment to participatory governance and inclusive development. With careful planning, responsive support, and empowered local actors, the livelihood programs in Magsaysay are shaping up to be not just short-term solutions, but models of sustainable rural transformation.
