Over 120 City and Municipal Links from various Provincial and Municipal Operations Offices (POOs/MOOs) of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) across Davao Region gathered virtually on May 16, 2025, for the online workshop, “The 4Ps IDEAS (Inspiring Development and Empowering Advocates of Self Sufficiency):Learning Session for the First 1000 days of Life (F1KD) for Pantawid Field Implementers.”
The learning session, a joint initiative of DSWD XI-4Ps RPMO’s Transformative Development Section and the National Nutrition Council XI, aimed to build the capacity of 4Ps field implementers by enhancing their knowledge, skills, and attitude (KSA) to deliver impactful learning sessions, improve program compliance, and foster sustainable partnerships in addressing malnutrition and stunting.
Participants learned about the context of nutrition, especially on trends on the prevalence rate of malnutrition from 2019-2024, nutrition structure on the local level, and technical aspects on maternal child, health and nutrition.
NNC’s OIC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator- Rethsebeth M. Laquihon, RND, MPD, MDM, shared insights and overview of the action plan, discussed how F1KD will be incorporated into the health and nutrition practices of beneficiaries. She stressed how 4Ps has become one of the essential programs in aiding the health of pregnant women and children. “We should have a better appreciation of 4Ps because it is a nutrition sensitive program, especially the components on health and cash grants. When we invest in nutrition, we can save lives,” Laquihon underscored.
Furthermore, 4Ps Division Chief Margie Cabido-Sobretodo expressed her delight and gratefulness for the support and partnership with the stakeholders for realizing this initiative. “We are happy for the support of our stakeholders in addressing the stunting and malnutrition. For several occasions, we have been trying ways on how we can be able to convey the message of F1KD and gain acceptance from our beneficiaries. One of the most important sources is NNC, and it’s a good platform for us that we have been enjoined by our stakeholders. We are very grateful for the contributions and insights provided to us by NNC,” DC Sobretodo expressed.
The learning session is one of the various collaborative efforts of DSWD XI’s 4Ps in partnership with NNC, to create, simplify and harmonize existing health and nutrition modules, to better serve the beneficiaries.
