The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) officially sealed partnership with Cocogen Insurance Incorporated on May 6, 2025 with a ceremonial signing held at the Cocogen Building in C.M. Recto, Palma Gil Street, Davao City. 

The event marks a significant step towards aiding the beneficiaries in uplifting their well-being through financial literacy, particularly the benefits of micro insurance. This micro insurance will cater specifically to the needs of 4Ps beneficiaries by providing enhanced social protection, insurance literacy programs, and developing tailored insurance products for vulnerable populations.

DSWD XI OIC-Regional Director, Merlinda A. Paragamac, First Vice President Head for Cocogen Insurance, Justino C. Macapagal, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) enjoined by Cocogen-Region Head Jeoffrey A. Palmares, Cocogen-Branch Manager, Arnen E. Bornales, and Project Development Officer II, Jamicca Jane L. Mendrano.  

Cocogen’s First Vice President- Justino C. Macapagal expressed assurance in the commitment of Cocogen in contribution to the success of the program. “The importance of our product is to assure financial well-being of the beneficiaries in times of untoward incidents, especially in times of accident and calamities. With our partnership, I can see that we can spread the benefit of financial protection to as many 4Ps beneficiaries. We are ready to serve our insured.”

Meanwhile, OIC-Regional Director Merlinda A. Paragamac expressed her gratitude for the formalization of the partnership, emphasizing its role in promoting financial protection for poor families in the Davao Region. “This is a serious endeavor and a great help to the poor families in the region. With Cocogen as our partner, we hope to strengthen the insurance mindset and document the benefits this initiative brings. At the end of the day it’s not about the profit, it’s about the services that we are providing to the poor families.”

his partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering vulnerable families, particularly 4Ps beneficiaries, in the Davao Region by strengthening financial literacy, advancing inclusion, and reinforcing protective measures for their well-being. It aims to complement existing efforts by expanding access to financial safeguards and deepening the impact of ongoing social protection initiatives.
