The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), and the National Nutrition Council XI (NNC XI), recently conducted a Writeshop on the Development of a Supplemental Learning Material on May 9, 2025, in Davao City.

The activity aimed to reinforce the health and nutrition of young children and to strengthen the implementation of the First 1,000 Days of Life (F1KD) program in the region.

During the activity, the team worked on the development of supplemental learning materials focused on supporting capacity-building and advocacy efforts that promote the F1KD campaign. The goal is to raise widespread awareness among eligible beneficiaries and empower them to recognize the vital role of health and nutrition services in the early development of children.

Representatives from both the DSWD 4Ps Regional Program Management Team, led by Family Development Session (FDS) Focal Person Diana O. Mejorada, and the NNC XI, represented by OIC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Rethsebeth M. Laquihon, RND, MPD, MDM, discussed strategies to enhance the program’s reach and effectiveness across the Davao Region.

Davao Region has a significant number of 4Ps beneficiaries. This intensified collaboration between DSWD and NNC seeks to directly address issues of stunting and malnutrition in the community. The partnership reflects a renewed commitment from both agencies to prioritize the health and well-being of the region’s youngest citizens through targeted and impactful interventions under the F1KD program.

This initiative is one of the many collaborative efforts between DSWD XI and NNC XI that aims to translate Republic Act No. 11148, or the “Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act”, into tangible support for Filipino families.
