The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI continues to advance climate adaptation and disaster resilience in vulnerable communities through the Cash-for-Training (CFT) component of Project LAWA at BINHI under the Risk Resiliency Program – Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM).

A total of 100 beneficiaries from Barangay San Victor, Baganga, Davao Oriental (District 1) gathered on April 22, 2025, at the barangay covered court to participate in a day-long training session aimed at strengthening their capacity to cope with climate-related risks and enhance their livelihoods.

The activity focused on teaching practical skills in sustainable agriculture, particularly on high-value crops and tilapia production. Participants were equipped with hands-on knowledge to improve their productivity and promote environmentally responsible farming and fishing practices.

In addition to technical skills, the activity also provided an orientation on key programs and services. These included the mandates of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), and the Fisherfolk Registration (FISHR), which are essential for accessing government support and assistance.

The initiative was made possible through the collaboration of DSWD XI staff Ras Landigan (PDO II) and Howell C. Gumanay (PDO I), together with key partners from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRM),

Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU).

By equipping community members with essential knowledge and technical skills, the program fosters local ownership, accountability, and sustainability. The initiative stands as a testament to DSWD XI’s continuous commitment to building empowered and climate-resilient communities across Davao Oriental.
