Key stakeholders from various municipalities in Davao de Oro convened in a series of second coordination meetings for the upcoming Project LAWA at BINHI, under the Risk Resilience Program – Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM). Held on March 24, 25, and 26, 2025, the meetings took place in the municipalities of Mabini, Laak, and Monkayo, respectively.

Led by DSWD Field Office XI representatives Royel Alag (Project Development Officer II) and Luigi Garzon (Social Welfare Officer II), the activity aimed to strengthen local coordination and finalize preparations for project rollout. Municipal Technical Working Group (MTWG) members from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO), Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO), and Municipal Information Office (MIO) joined the sessions, along with landowners and presidents of local associations.

During the meetings, Alag emphasized the importance of harmonized planning and stakeholder engagement. “These coordination meetings are essential to ensure that everyone—from the local government units to our partner landowners—clearly understands their role and commitment to the project,” he said. He also highlighted the value of collective ownership, adding, “Project LAWA at BINHI is not just a government initiative—it’s a community-driven solution to enhance climate resilience and promote sustainable livelihoods.”

The agenda covered updates on interface documents, inputs from recent site validations, and initial orientations for landowners. A key activity was the signing of consent forms in preparation for the execution of Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) or deeds of usufruct. The schedule for upcoming “cash-for-training” activities was also discussed and confirmed.

These coordination efforts mark a significant step in aligning project goals with community readiness, ensuring that all stakeholders are equipped with clear guidance and shared commitment as Project LAWA at BINHI moves closer to implementation in Davao de Oro.
