
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, in collaboration with partner agencies, successfully conducted a series of Cash-for-Training (CFT) sessions for Project LAWA at BINHI beneficiaries from April 2 to 4, 2025.
The training sessions were held across Barangay Maparat, Barangay Ngan, and Barangay Mangayon in Compostela, Davao de Oro, gathering around 200 beneficiaries. The initiative aimed to equip participants with vital skills and knowledge to enhance their resilience to climate change impacts, focusing on improved farming techniques, disaster preparedness, and sustainable agricultural practices.



Representatives from various offices provided expert guidance during the activity. These included Luigi C. Garzon of DSWD Field Office XI, Leo Atacador of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Joyce Amethyst Apog of the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Lilianie L. Yorong and Jaime M. Torreon Jr. of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO), Domingo Napoles of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Jovelin D. Abucayan of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Lencer James T. Leonor of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and Joel R. Camilotes of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).
In an interview, Luigi C. Garzon, DSWD XI Project Development Officer, underscored the significance of the training by stating, “We are not just providing assistance for today. Through Project LAWA at BINHI, we are empowering communities to stand strong against climate challenges, secure their food sources, and build a sustainable future for themselves and the next generation.”



Through this effort, DSWD XI and its partners reaffirm their commitment to empowering communities by strengthening their capacities to adapt to climate risks while promoting sustainable livelihoods.
