The Bunawan Enterprise SLP Association (BESA), a proud beneficiary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), marked another milestone with the opening of its second general merchandise store on April 12, 2025, in Bunawan, Davao City.
Strategically located within the community where most of its members reside, the new store signifies BESA’s commitment to sustainability, enterprise development, and improving the quality of life for its members. This expansion is a major step forward in BESA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its economic base and contribute to local development.

Formed in September 2023 with 30 active members, BESA initially received a Seed Capital Fund (SCF) of ₱450,000.00 from SLP in February 2024 for their Agri-Vet Supply Project. Since then, the association has shown remarkable progress through strategic planning, strong teamwork, and sound financial management.

To celebrate their first anniversary in February 2025, BESA organized a Coastal Clean-Up Activity at Purok 9, Bunawan, showcasing their commitment not only to enterprise growth but also to environmental responsibility.
Demonstrating a sustainable and inclusive business model, the association has allocated 20% of their annual income—₱134,854.09—for profit sharing among members, providing both motivation and financial support to each participant.
Despite facing challenges, BESA has sustained and grown its livelihood project with the unwavering support of the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Bunawan, highlighting the importance of community collaboration in achieving long-term success.
The expansion of their store is a testament to BESA’s resilience, vision, and drive to uplift lives through livelihood. Their journey stands as an inspiration to other associations under the SLP.
Congratulations, BESA, on this remarkable achievement and continued success!
