The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Technical Advisory Assistance and Other Support Services (TAAORSS), successfully conducted a Knowledge Management Session with Local Government Units (LGUs) from across the Davao Region on November 22, 2024, at the World Palace Hotel, Davao City.

The session aimed to strengthen LGU capacity by discussing key initiatives such as PANATA KO SA BAYAN and the Knowledge Management Guidelines, both designed to facilitate effective sharing, management, and use of information within the social welfare sector. By highlighting these frameworks, the session emphasized the importance of fostering closer collaboration between DSWD and LGUs to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of social welfare programs at the local level.

A central focus of the event was ensuring the sustainability and continuous improvement of technical assistance and documentation processes. By equipping LGUs with the necessary tools and knowledge, the session empowered them to effectively manage and implement community-based programs, ensuring timely and organized service delivery. This collaboration not only strengthens the relationship between DSWD XI and LGUs but also promotes a culture of knowledge sharing essential for the long-term success of social welfare initiatives.

One of the session’s standout highlights was the presentation of the Knowledge Management Initiative by Davao de Oro, through its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO). The initiative, titled “Social Works for Non-Social Workers: The Installation of Para-Social Workers, known as Social Welfare and Development Auxiliary (SWADA) at the Grassroots Level,” was recognized with the prestigious PAGLARAY Award of Good Practice, underscoring the innovation and effectiveness of local programs in enhancing grassroots social welfare services.

Through this session, DSWD XI continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to supporting LGUs in uplifting the communities they serve. By strengthening technical assistance, promoting knowledge sharing, and celebrating successful local initiatives, DSWD ensures that its partnerships with LGUs contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of government programs across the region.
