The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), turned over P375,000 worth of fishing boats and additional fishing equipment to the La Paz SLP Association on November 13, 2024.

The association, composed of 25 members from Barangay La Paz, Carmen, Davao del Norte, received livelihood assistance as part of DSWD’s commitment to empower marginalized communities and boost their economic productivity.

This initiative aims to enhance the fisherfolk’s capacity to increase their daily catch, ultimately providing a more stable income to support their families. The provision of the fishing boats and equipment also seeks to promote sustainable fishing practices in the community.
