Barangay Lapu-Lapu in the Municipality of Maco, Davao De Oro, is taking proactive steps towards community development with the successful conduct of a Participatory Situational Analysis (PSA), on August 16, 2024. PSA is a vital step of the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach employed in the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The workshop is designed to identify and address the pressing challenges and negative conditions currently faced by the barangay.
The PSA, a cornerstone in grassroots community planning, is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the Barangay Development Council’s (BDC) five-year development plan. By engaging community members directly, the activity ensures that the perspectives and needs of the residents are at the forefront of the planning process.
This initiative is part of the broader KALAHI-CIDSS program, which champions participatory governance, transparency, and accountability. The program empowers communities to take charge of their development by fostering collaboration between local leaders and residents.
The success of the PSA was made possible through the support of the local officials from the barangay and municipal local government units. Their commitment to inclusive and transparent governance is paving the way for sustainable development in Barangay Lapu-Lapu.
As the outcomes of this workshop are integrated into the BDC’s strategic planning, the community can look forward to a development agenda that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of its people. This participatory approach not only enhances the effectiveness of the planning process but also strengthens the bond between the local government and its constituents, ensuring that development is both meaningful and sustainable.
