An inspiring collaboration transforms lives in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD FO XI) in partnership with Clean Water International Philippines (CWIP) aims to bring safe and clean water to those who need it most.
This partnership, formalized by a Memorandum of Agreement signed on October 26, 2023, focuses on addressing water scarcity among beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
CWIP, a global NGO committed to providing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) education, and technology solutions has introduced Ceramic Water Filters to 101 4Ps and 40 Non-4Ps households in Sitio Pengalongan, Barangay Malamba, Marilog District, Davao City. The distribution, which took place on May 28-29, 2024, was accompanied by an orientation session to educate recipients about using and maintaining these life-saving filters.
The story of this initiative is more than just the distribution of water filters; it’s about empowering communities with knowledge and skills to ensure sustainable impact. CWIP is conducting comprehensive training sessions on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) for the communities. These sessions are designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to maintain their new water systems and ensure long-term benefits.
CWIP works with local leaders known as WaSH Ambassadors, they are chosen from qualified 4Ps beneficiaries, and they will monitor and maintain the functionality of water filters in their areas. They receive extensive training in WaSH practices and the technical aspects of the Ceramic Water Filter project. These ambassadors play a crucial role in ensuring longevity of the technology and continuous education of the community. This ensures community-driven implementation and impactful solutions.
This collaboration exemplifies the commitment of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program XI to strengthen ties with stakeholders. DSWD FO XI remains unwavering in its dedication to improving the level of well-being of the 4Ps beneficiaries. With the combined efforts of DSWD FO XI and CWIP, the journey towards ensuring clean water for every family in the Region takes a significant step forward.
