In a significant move aimed at bolstering local social welfare efforts, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), handed over the Listahanan database of poor households to the Municipality of Kiblawan in Davao del Sur on June 27, 2024 through Kareen Maris M. Ferrer and Peter Paul C. Villaluna from the NHTS Regional Program Management Team.
The database was warmly received by Hon. Joel G. Calma, Municipal Mayor of Kiblawan, who was joined by key municipal officials, including Alma Q. Amido, the Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer; Cesar Poblacion, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan; and Myra Romaguera, the Municipal Planning and Development Officer and the designated Data Protection Officer.
With the acquisition of the Listahanan database, the Municipality of Kiblawan is now equipped with an essential tool to accurately identify and assist beneficiaries for local programs and services. This database is a critical asset, as it contains comprehensive information on the poorest households, facilitating targeted and efficient delivery of aid.
The Listahanan system is an information system that identifies and locates poor households across the Philippines. It supports government agencies, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and private institutions in the implementation of social protection programs and services.
By leveraging this data, Kiblawan aims to streamline its social welfare initiatives, ensuring that resources are directed to the most vulnerable segments of the population. The Department’s handover of the Listahanan database marks a step forward in the municipality’s ongoing efforts to reduce poverty and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
This event underscores the importance of data-driven approaches in social welfare and the collaborative efforts between national and local government units to address poverty and improve social outcomes.
