The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD XI) successfully capacitated 300 partner beneficiaries through its Cash-For-Training (CFT) program for Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency Through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished). The training took place in the Municipality of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental, from July 10-12, 2024.
The event was spearheaded by Karen C. Gayonan, the Focal Person for Project LAWA and BINHI, alongside Jo Ann V. Labio, the Risk Resiliency Program-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM) Focal Person of Davao Occidental.
Lenel P. Ong from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office discussed strategies for integrating social services with community welfare initiatives. Jay D. Morro of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources provided insights into sustainable fisheries management practices and advanced aquaculture techniques. Alexis T. Endencia, representing the Municipal Agricultural Office, focused on implementing advanced agricultural practices and enhancing crop diversification strategies.
Engr. Wilbert V. Cabca from the Municipal Environmental Resource Office delivered a presentation on environmental conservation strategies, effective water resource management, and sustainable land use practices. Ivy Cherisse Anne S. Golimlim of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office elaborated on disaster preparedness frameworks, risk reduction strategies, and emergency response protocols. Police Corporal Ardriane P. Dela Peña discussed community policing strategies and security measures to support local community development projects.
Dynamic discussions facilitated by partner agencies providing technical assistance revealed that both implementers and partner beneficiaries are well-prepared for the full implementation of Project LAWA and BINHI in their community. The training emphasized the importance of project sustainability and instilled a deep sense of ownership among the beneficiaries, ensuring the long-term success of these initiatives. (DSWD XI/RSD)
