Maco, Davao de Oro (May 2, 2024) – Today marks a significant milestone in Maco, Davao de Oro as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program, officially handed over the newly constructed Multipurpose Building for Disaster Response to the community of Brgy. Poblacion. Led by Area Coordinator (AC) Carlo Jack L. Pino, the Area Coordinating Team (ACT) facilitated the turnover ceremony, joined by local government officials of the municipality.

The project that was initiated by the community of Brgy. Poblacion represents a collaboration fueled by collective effort and investment. With a total cost of PHP 4,528,047.20, the municipal government contributed PHP 801,509.44, while Brgy. Poblacion itself contributed PHP 24,100.00. Funding from KALAHI-CIDSS, sourced from the National Community-Driven Development Program-Additional Financing (NCDDP-AF), amounted to PHP 3,702,437.76.

In his message, Pino, the newly designated AC, emphasized the pivotal role of unity and community participation in realizing the subproject. 

“Kini nga subproyekto dili mamahimong posible kung wala ang hiniusang kausa sa mga community volunteers, ACT, MCT, ug ang tibuok komunidad sa Brgy. Poblacion,” (This sub-project would not be possible without the joint efforts of community volunteers, ACT, MCT, and the entire community of Brgy. Poblacion), said Pino.

The successful completion of the subproject stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven initiatives in fostering resilience and addressing the needs of the community. (DSWD XI/EMCJr)
