Asuncion, Davao del Norte (May 3, 2024) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary for the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), Irene Bungay-Dumlao, joined the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout today in Asuncion, Davao del Norte to observe the distribution process and address issues and concerns.
ASec Dumlao met the Municipal Mayor Atty. Eufracio P. Dayaday Jr. to discuss the grievances faced by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) amid ongoing ECT payouts to ensure all of them will be addressed by the Central Office.
“Nagtungo tayo dito sa Asuncion, Davao del Norte upang obserbahan ang isinasagawang payout ng Emergency Cash Transfer. Ito ay mahalaga sa atin bilang mga policy-makers upang matingnan natin kung gaano ba ka-epektibo itong interbensyon na ito na inihahatid natin at upang malaman natin ano yung mga gaps at issues na pwedeng matugunan ng Central Office,” (We went here to Asuncion, Davao del Norte to observe the ongoing payout of the Emergency Cash Transfer. This is important to us as policy-makers so that we can see how effective this intervention is and to know what are the gaps and issues that can be addressed by the Central Office), Asec Dumlao said.
A sum of PHP12,519,720.00 was disbursed across nine barangays in Asuncion, benefitting 1,275 eligible recipients today. The ECT aimed to provide immediate financial relief to individuals and families impacted by recent calamities due to the shear line and trough of the Low-Pressure Area in recent months.
ASec Dumlao expressed her commitment to ensuring effective assistance delivery and addressing the needs of the communities affected by recent calamities. She emphasized the importance of continuous observation and dialogue to improve distribution processes and vowed to work closely with local government units to better serve those in need.
