Nora A. Dominguez, a 73-year old resident of Boston, Davao Oriental expressed her gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD XI) for the financial assistance she received through the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program under the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) on April 26-28, 2024 payout for the affected families of the recent disasters and calamities in the Davao Region.

“Sa mga milabay nga bulan, grabe ka lisod ang panginabuhi nganhi kanami tungod sang epekto nan baha. Nangadaot ang among mga pananom, naguba ang among puloy-anan, ug nangaanod ang among mga buhi nga nagatagad kanami sa among panginahanglan sa pang-adlaw-adlaw. Madayaw na lamang kay gihatagan kanami sang DSWD og dako nga alibyo, usa ka dako nga kalipay alang sa among pamilya para sa pagsugod isab nan amo panginabuhian kay kung wala ang ECT, dili mi kabalo unsaog pagbangon”, (In the past months, life has been difficult due to the effects of the floods. Our crops were damaged, our homes were destroyed, and livelihoods which sustain our daily needs were washed away. We are grateful that the DSWD provided us with financial assistance, bringing joy to our family as we restart to build-up our livelihood because without ECT, we don’t know how to start), Dominguez said.

Dominguez is one of the recipients among the 4,374 beneficiaries of the ECT payout with disbursing a total of PHP43,565,040 provided by DSWD in Boston, Davao Oriental. 

As of present, a total of PHP602,430,600.00 has been successfully disbursed to our 60,485 beneficiaries who were affected by the said disaster in the province of Davao Oriental.

This swift distribution of cash assistance to the flood-affected residents in Boston, Davao Oriental demonstrates the Department’s commitment to prompt response during emergencies, emphasizing the crucial role of social welfare programs in supporting Filipinos during natural disasters.
