In a concerted effort to empower communities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Wangan National Agricultural School (WNAS), has initiated a transformative 3-month training program on Organic Agriculture NC II. This program is designed to equip 16 selected members of the Subasta Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Association with essential skills, on April 6, 2024.

The primary objective of this endeavor is to establish a pioneering Demo Farm and facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge agricultural technology to Barangay Subasta. By doing so, the initiative seeks to not only bolster the economic prospects of the participating association members but also to extend the ripple effect of prosperity to the broader community.

The Subasta SLP Association, comprising 30 dynamic members, received a substantial seed capital worth of P450,000.00 from SLP in March 2024.

Amidst the selected participants, nine dedicated individuals from the DSWD staff have been enlisted, representing both the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). These staff members will play a pivotal role in collaborating with TESDA-WNAS, offering technical expertise and overseeing the progress of the program beneficiaries.

The significance of this training initiative extends beyond the mere acquisition of technical skills. It symbolizes a strategic investment in human capital and community development, fostering self-reliance and resilience among the program participants. By harnessing the potential of organic agriculture, the project not only promotes environmental sustainability but also cultivates a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the community.
