The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI facilitated a 1-day training for Newly Elected Violence Against Women (VAW) Desk Officers, Barangay Captains and Functionaries on March 6, 2024, at Kapalong, Davao del Norte.

The training provides comprehensive discussion on the roles and functions of the Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence on Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC), understanding the legal framework and policies related to anti-trafficking and the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), also to provide the referral system and coordination mechanisms for Solo Parent and Child Labor, and to familiarize the reporting and monitoring tools and procedures for LCAT-VAWC.

Staff under the Protective Services Division of DSWD XI served as Resource Person including Jovelyn M. Trajano, Lead Secretariat, Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking-Violence Against Women and Children (IACAT-VAWC); Gladys A. Credo, Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficking in Persons (RRPTP) Focal; Sherlyn S. Concubierta, Women Focal; and Dan Niel O. Salvador, SHIELD Focal.

This training will serve as an encouragement among stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and partnership, and to sustain collective efforts in the prevention and response to trafficking and VAWC.
